How to reset Epson CX6500 or any multifunction:

* Press and hold B/W+COLOR+STOP

* Push power on button, don’t release all the button until you see the light indicator is blinking and then a message display on the LCD

* Release your fingers from the button

* Press the COLOR button to clear protection counter

* Press power button (turn off)

* DONE!

Langkah 1: Manual for Service mode
1. Lepaskan kabel Power dan USB
2. Tekan dan tahan tombol POWER dan colok kabel POWER
3. Tekan tombol RESUME 2x, kemudian lepas keduanya
4. Colok kabel USB

Lankah 2 : Software untuk Reset Permanant

1. Klik link di bawah ini
2. Download General Tools i255, pilih (USB PORT)
3 .Pilih EEPROM CLEAR dan klik SET DESTINATION 1
4. Masukkan kertas dan printer akan mencetak printout data EEPROM dan melakukan test printhead utk semua nozzle (hitam dan warna)
5. Matikan printer.

Step 1 : Manual for Service Mode

1. Turn off the printer. And disconnect the printer cable.
2. Press and hold the POWER button, turn on the printer.
3. The indicator (L.E.D.) should be green.
4. Press and release the RESUME button , the indicator (L.E.D.) should be orange.
5. Press and release the RESUME button again, the indicator (L.E.D.) should be green.
6. Release both buttons.
7. Connect USB cable
Step 2 : Software for permanent reset

1. Reconnect the printer cable.
2.Open General Tools i255 and select (USB PORT)
3 .Check on EEPROM CLEAR
4. Click SET DESTINATION 1

1. Turn off printer
2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not,
press the Power button once more.
8. Your printer should respond as normal.

1 press – orange – EEPROM info print (plus grid nozzle diagnostic on i960)
2 presses – green – EEPROM initialize
3 presses – orange – Reset waste ink counter
Epson Stylus Color C20,C40

Since your printer consumes ink not only for printing but also for other operations like cleaning, a certain amount of ink is wasted and it is collected by the waste ink pad. Therefore, the printer counts the amount of waste ink.
Once the amount of waste ink reaches the predefined limit, the printer indicates “MAINTENANCE REQUEST” and the waste ink pad should be replaced. Also, you must reset the maintenance error condition and the waste ink counter value stored in EEPROM on the mainbord of the printer.

The adjustment program enables you to perform maintenance and adjustment functions such as:

- EEPROM initial setting
- Ink Pad Counter reset
- Initial Ink Charge
- Head ID Setting
- Top margin Adjustment
- Bi-D Adjustment
- USB ID Input
Note: The above list is related to models Epson C20 and C40 only. Other printer models may have different set of functions, and you must doublecheck the service manual for a specific printer that you are going to troubleshoot.Warning: misuse of a program may damage printer’s EEPROM! Under Window 98 only.

Here’s a link to a discussion on the newly available Canon chip resetter(s).
I’m still using iP3000. 4000 and 5000 but it’s nice to see that I can step up to the newer models (someday) and maintain my current re-filling effectiveness.
A little spendy just yet, but hopefully the price will come down.
